 The Garden City Parks and Recreation Senior Adult Program is housed at Maplewood Community Center.  Programs and services are scheduled for young and active senior adults as well as senior adults who may need assistance.  We are a Healthy – Active – Fun Center for adults from 50 to 100!!


 



Senior Nutrition Programs at Maplewood



Lunch Program at Maplewood Tired of cooking?  Want good company for lunch?  Are restaurant meals costing too much?  Join us at Maplewood Senior Center Monday through Friday at 12:00 noon for good food and companionship!  For ages 60 and over, a nutritional hot lunch program is available.  Reservations must be made 24 hours in advance.  Menus are posted at the center and in the Senior Echo.   For information or to make a reservation, call 793-1875, between 10:30 am and 12:30 pm.  Meals on Wheels Garden City volunteers deliver hot meals to approximately 100 home- bound eligible seniors Monday through Friday.  For information on how to receive meals call 1-800-851-1454.  To be a volunteer Meal Driver call 734-793-1874. 
Liquid Nutrition
Maplewood Senior Center is a Liquid Nutrition Distribution Site.  This program is designed for seniors who have a debilitating disorder or require supplemental food intake to meet their nutritional needs.  A doctor’s prescription is needed.  For information call 1-800-851-1454.

Food Commodities
The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) in Michigan. This program is surplus government food distributed on the 4th Tuesday of the month at Maplewood to low income families and seniors.  To receive food commodities, clients must register in TEFAP at Maplewood.  Families and seniors must qualify as low income. Fitness and Dance for Active adults over 50!!



Line Dancing every Tuesday Have fun learning line dance to a variety of music. Pay as you go $3 per class or $5 for both classes.  Advanced Beginner 9:30 am-10:30 am. Advanced Classes 10:45 am-11:45 am.

Ballroom Dancing Learn and review all the Ballroom dances; swing, waltz, rumba cha-cha, and fox trot. Thursday mornings 11am -12 pm, pay as you go, $1.50 per person.

 Senior Workout improve flexibility, toning, strenth, and endurance. Thursdays, 9:15-10:30am, drop-in 50 cents per person.
