The members of the Garden City Police Department are dedicated to the advancement of community policing and the development of a partnership with our community to serve its needs in a professional, efficient, and effective manner. We will strive to continually develop a comprehensive strategy that meets the public safety needs of the community and enhance the quality of life in Garden City.
We provide law enforcement services with a high emphasis on service, pride, and integrity. We recognize respect, fairness, and compassion as the foundation of our commitment to service. With service as our foundation, our emphasis is on problem solving where we identify and implement creative solutions to identified problems within our community. We are driven to foster a sense of security in our neighborhoods, among our visitors and in our business community.
We build and maintain public trust by holding ourselves to the highest standards of performance and ethics. To fulfill our mission, the Garden City Police Department recognizes that our employees are our best asset. We are committed to provide a people-orientated work environment where members may enjoy their jobs, utilize their talents, respect one another and grow. A key emphasis is placed on leadership so that we may identify and develop the future leaders of the Department from within.
We are committed to the prevention of crime and the protection of life and property; the preservation of peace, order, and safety; the enforcement of laws and ordinances; and the safeguarding of Constitutional guarantees. Our success will be measured by the improved working partnerships between police, schools, city government services and citizens and the realization that we have a community that is safe, viable and attractive for families and commerce.

Video Information Partnership
The Garden City Police Department is asking residents and local businesses to join us in the mission to make our community stronger. We would like our business owners and residents to join our voluntary directory of surveillance camera systems. By joining this directory, we will notify you by email (or text message) when an incident in your area has occurred and video surveillance footage may aid us in resolving an issue. We ask that when you receive an email you view your camera footage and respond to the email should you have anything that may assist us.
Please join us in the fight against crime in your area, and sign up today.
Should you have any questions please contact your Community Resource Officer at CRO@Gardencitymi.org or by telephone at 734-793-1728.
SNOW EMERGENCY
We are approaching the time of year when snow will start to become a factor in our daily lives. Please make it a point to know Garden City Ordinance 71.05; which explains what constitutes a snow emergency, and the penalty for failure to observe the ordinance. Our DPS strives to keep your streets nicely plowed when the snow gets over three inches, and in order to do that, removal of vehicles from the street is important. Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our streets safe.
A snow emergency is declared anytime there is an accumulation of three inches or more. We notify all the major media stations, and an alert is sent out over Nixle.
