WHEN IS COMPOST PICKED UP? Compost will be picked up APRIL 4 THROUGH DECEMBER 10, 2011. Please plan your clean-ups and trimming accordingly, as compost cannot be mixed with your trash at any time.
During the composting period, residents must use the following containers for curbside yard waste collection:
1. A regular refuse container 32 gallon size with a "Yard Waste" recycling sticker; or
2. Kraft-type brown paper bag specifically designed for yard waste.
Marked cans and compost bags should be placed at the curb for pickup on the same day as regular refuse collection. Yard waste placed in improper containers or mixed with regular refuse will not be collected. When set out for collection, yard waste shall be separated from regular refuse approximately five (5) feet.
Yard waste stickers can be picked up at the Department of Public Service Office, 31800 Beechwood, Garden City, MI. 48135 or can be mailed by calling 793-1800.
