General Summary:

The 21st District Court, located in Garden City, is accepting applications for a Deputy Court Clerk. Under

the general supervision of the Court Administrator, responsibilities include performing a variety of tasks

involved in the processing of civil/small claims/landlord tenant cases and/or criminal/traffic cases along

with other clerical duties. This position also provides counter support which includes receiving/receipting

money and providing assistance on matters to attorneys, law enforcement officers and the public.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.

2. Pass a criminal background check.

3. Prior clerical experience in a court or law office preferred.

4. Computer literate, including knowledge of Microsoft Office.

5. Knowledge of JIS (Judicial Information System) preferred.

6. Pass testing requirements to become LEIN (Law Enforcement Information Network) certified

within 6 months of employment and recertify as applicable.

7. Possess good organizational, filing, verbal and writing skills.

8. Possess attention to detail and accuracy in work performance.

$18.00 to $21.00 hourly, with benefits

Part Time Court Officer

$18.00 per hour                                                                                                               Posting Date: October 22, 2021

25 hours a week                                                                                                               Removal Date: Open until filled


GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Under the supervision of the Judge and Court Administrator the candidate will perform duties related to ensuring the safety of staff and general public. Job duties will include but are not limited to covering the main security station, screening all court participants before entering courtroom, maintain a swift and orderly disposition while greeting and directing the general public, interpret and respond to disruptive scenarios quickly, maintain security and order in lobby and building.  

QUALIFICATIONS: The candidate should possess an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or a related field. On the job experience may be considered. Prior experience in police work, security, corrections or related field required. Must be able to work independently and be able to direct individuals in a polite assertive manner. Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time. Must pass a pre-employment criminal/civil background check and drug screening. Must have a CPL and be able to become firearm and Taser certified. Employees will be fingerprinted.
